Job overview

Vacancies based at our primary department - Golden Lane Campus, EC1Y 8JA.

Are you looking for a job that offers variety, excitement and reward? A role where you feel proud of yourself and your team for making a positive impact every day on the amazing children you look after? Where you can thrive and reach your full potential with people who care and collaborate as a team? If you do, then please continue reading!

Richard Cloudesley School is a specialist school for pupils aged 2 - 19 years who have severe to profound learning disabilities. Many pupils will express themselves through non-verbal means, or at most through using a few words or symbols.  Therefore, communication is central to our approach, and key to our provision at Richard Cloudesley School. Some pupils will have additional physical disabilities, autistic spectrum conditions, sensory impairment, complex health needs or mental health difficulties.

Due to the growth of our primary department, we wish to appoint two teachers who have particular experience of working with pupils with autistic spectrum conditions and severe learning difficulties.

We can offer you:

·       An inviting, supportive, welcoming and friendly environment.

·       A strong and supportive leadership team that is passionate about staff and pupil wellbeing.

·       A strong continuing professional development programme that includes training to support your further professional development and to help pupils to use Alternative & Augmentative Communication (AAC) systems, including Pragmatic Organisation Dynamic Display (PODD).

·       A comprehensive staff wellbeing programme that includes regular coaching, an employee-assistance scheme, access to trained mental health champions, and reflective practice sessions.

·       A commitment to work life balance.

Whilst experience in a special school is not essential, you must be adaptable, flexible, motivated, and capable of delivering exciting, fun, and personalized lessons. The successful applicants will also be exceptionally enthusiastic and committed teachers who can motivate our pupils and lead and inspire their class team to help children achieve their potential.

School visits are essential. Please contact Sarah Kelly, Business Manager on 020 7704 8127 ext. 5504 or email sarah.kelly@cloudesley.islington.sch.uk to make an appointment.

Closing date:                       midnight, Monday 6th May 2024

Interview date:                   16th May 2024
