Due to the promotion of the current post-holder (fixed term maternity contract), an exciting opportunity has arisen to join our large and dedicated team as a Year 4 teacher.  

This contract is fixed term from 1st January 2018 to 31st August 2018 to cover the maternity leave of a permanent member of staff.  The salary will be MPS or UPS dependent on experience.

You will be a professional who:

 • Has high expectations for pupils learning and behaviour 

• Enjoys the support and challenge gained from being part of a large team in an       improving school

 • Willing to commit to the school for two terms in order to ensure continuity of provision for the pupils

About Gillingham Primary School

Gillingham Primary School  is a two-form entry LA maintained school, located in the centre of Gillingham town in North Dorset close to Gillingham Secondary School to which most of our pupils transfer when they are 11.

We are a diverse and inclusive mainstream school, also hosting Specialist Resourced Provision (BASE); a 14 place unit for pupils with an EHC plan and Complex Communication Needs.

There are currently 12 classes in the school, in addition to the ‘Sky Base’ class mentioned above.  We have two classes per year group except for Year 1 and Year 3, where there is one class. Every class has a fully qualified teacher and we have extensive Teaching Assistant support throughout the school.  

The School's motto is "Enjoy, Engage, Excel" and we aim to live this out through our varied and interesting curriculum, our high-quality teaching and our commitment to every child making great progress and achieving all they are capable of.  We are committed to excellence.
