Location:  The Link Primary School CR0 4PG and The Link Secondary School CR0 4PD

Working Pattern:  Full time permanent position - 32.5 hours per week.

The Link Primary School is an Outstanding special school located in the London Borough of Sutton and provides specialist teaching and therapy for up to 50 pupils aged 4 to 11 whose primary need is speech, language and communication. Some pupils have additional learning or sensory integration needs and a large percentage of pupils have a diagnosis of Autistic Spectrum Disorder.

The School provides a warm, safe, friendly and nurturing environment, which helps pupils to learn, express their ideas, communicate, develop friendships and grow in confidence and self- esteem.

Staff provide pupils with an outstanding education based on strong practitioner research and the holistic curriculum offer that promotes strong personal and social education as well cognitive development. The school also has a specialist annex for children with autism and pathological demand avoidance (PDA) which is well established and provides an innovative and quality approach to educating children that are frequently misunderstood by the education system.

Due to the expansion of this work onto a satellite site, we are looking to recruit two teachers to join our team of teachers and therapists who would be interested and committed to helping us further develop our work for children with this unusual profile.

To be considered a real asset for this position, you must demonstrate:

• Outstanding practice within the teacher standards and have a strong understanding/knowledge and experience of working with children with special needs, particularly those with Autistic Spectrum Conditions.

• A desire to think outside of usual educational pedagogy to find workable solutions for children that have strong cognitive potential but require a highly personalised approach to their education.

• High emotional intelligence with the ability to lead a team of classroom assistants in teaching a curriculum based around student’s motivations and interests whilst supporting children’s emotional regulation through positive behavioural approaches.
