We are looking for hard-working, happy, nurturing people to join our team of classroom assistants as soon as possible. We can guarantee you will be kept on your toes!

The positions are for 30 hours per week. The hours of work are 9.15am to 3.15pm, term time only. The position is graded at PS3 with a salary of £12,913 pro rata (Full time equivalent £18,013).

We also have availability for casual BANK Classroom Assistants to cover staff absences. There are no contracted hours for these positions so they offer you the flexibility to fit around existing commitments. If you are interested in BANK work, please indicate this on your application form.

You will be providing classroom support to our children and young people with complex social communication needs and autism. Our classes have 9 children. Previous experience of working with children would be good, but is not essential, as we provide all staff with a paid training package and ongoing professional development. The children and young people at Freemantles are aged 4 to 19 years. There are positions available in both the Primary and Secondary / Post-16 Departments. If you have a particular preference for which age group you work with, please explain this on your application form so that we can consider it (although we cannot guarantee you would be placed in this department).

The school leaders at Freemantles are experienced in supporting staff to develop their individual careers with some staff moving on from this position to Lead Assistant, Teacher or Educational Psychologist etc.

About Us

Freemantles is a Surrey County Council school for children and young people with complex social communication needs, usually including a diagnosis of Autism and have developed a renowned understanding and specialism in this area.

We received an Outstanding Ofsted grade in November 2016.

The school supports children from 4-19 years old and has a wide catchment area which covers most of Surrey, but mainly the West. Since September 2017 we have been expanding to become two-form entry.

The Governors and Leadership team at Freemantles have expressed a commitment to supporting all pupils with Autism in Surrey. As a result, we have a very well established and highly reputed community support role which includes Outreach and training.
