About the Role

St Clare’s College is a spirited learning community where students can develop their knowledge, skills, confidence and faith. The Inclusive Education Classroom Support Assistant provides support for the classroom teachers to help ensure all students can access and participate in College curriculum and activities.

Essential Criteria

  • Certificate IV in Education Support or similar (or substantial progress, and/or a willingness to complete in an agreed timeframe)
  • Experience working with children who have diverse learning needs. This may include highly capable students requiring extension, students with physical or cognitive disabilities, and/or students who present behavioural and emotional difficulties
  • A commitment to and understanding of the principles behind inclusive education practices, including the promotion of inclusion in the College community
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, in particular the ability to relate well to teenage students and to work well in staff teams
  • The ability to work effectively with teachers and students in the classroom
  • Initiative and the ability to work independently and flexibly as needed
  • Sound literacy and numeracy and ICT skills, and confidence in the ability to support students in developing these skills
  • The ability to maintain a high degree of professionalism and confidentiality when dealing with sensitive information
  • Sound administrative and ICT skills
  • Current and valid ACT Working with Vulnerable People Card
  • First Aid qualification or willingness to obtain one
  • The capacity to be supportive of the goals of Catholic education and a readiness to foster the aims and vision of the College in the wider community
