About the Role 
St John Paul II College (JPC) is a welcoming and inclusive learning community where diversity is embraced, and learning outcomes are maximised for each individual. At JPC, teachers work in teams, planning and teaching. We are committed to the Archdiocese Catalyst program and use high-impact teaching strategies in all classrooms.

We have an opportunity for a dynamic and committed Learning Diversity teacher to join our college from term 2.

Key Responsibilities 

The Classroom Support Teacher will:

  • Deliver intervention programs in line with both their subject expertise and training.
  • Work alongside staff and leaders, assisting with the modifications and accommodations individual students require through sharing knowledge, ideas, and resources.
  • Create evidence-based resources to maximise the growth of diverse learners and support the development of the executive functioning and social skills of students.
  • Contribute to the Gifted and Talented programs that are in line with their skills and expertise.

As a member of the Learning Diversity Team, the Classroom Support Teacher will:

  • Develop and monitor students’ Personalised Learning Plans to assist with the implementation of evidence-based classroom adjustments.
  • Undertake shared responsibility for all NCCD data collection, liaising with the CE Inclusion Practices School Officer to ensure compliance.
  • Oversee the process of diagnostic assessment and associated permissions, as well as transition processes for students with additional needs.
  • Work with teachers to provide in-class support to students with identified needs.

Essential Criteria 

  • Must hold a relevant Working with Children registration and Teacher Accreditation.
  • Must have completed relevant Education/Teaching tertiary qualification.
  • Relevant additional qualifications in supporting students with additional needs are highly desirable.
  • Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with empathy and authority with all stakeholders.
  • Experience in leading professional learning related to students with additional needs.
  • The passion and expertise to work individually and collectively to maximise student learning outcomes.
  • The capacity to develop productive and caring relationships with students, parents, and staff where the focus is on meeting the student's diverse learning and well-being needs.
  • A proven ability to continue to learn and grow and to upskill in areas related to the needs of the school.
