Job overview

We are looking for an extremely organised, effective and flexible Clerk to the Governors to provide support and advice to the Governing Body.

You will be an individual who prides themselves on attention to detail, able to take accurate minutes, prepare agendas in consultation with the Chair of Governors and Headteacher and collate and distribute papers for meetings in a timely manner.

The successful candidate will

  • Provide advice to the governing body on governance, constitutional and procedural matters.
  • Provide effective administrative support to the governing body and its committees.
  • Ensure the governing body is properly constituted
  • Manage information effectively in accordance with legal requirements and understand the importance of strong Governance and that the Clerk plays a pivotal role in the success of the school.

Previous secretarial, office or administrative experience is essential and school experience would be a distinct advantage. A positive attitude and calm manner with the ability to prioritise and deal with a demanding workload is vital. You will be an excellent communicator, have a professional approach and be able to deal with complex matters both face to face and in writing. Candidates will have strong MS office skills e.g. Word and be competent users of email.
