Clerk to Governors

An academy of over 470 pupils, Court Lane’s aim is to inspire children to be the very best they can be now and in the future with excellent teaching and enjoyable learning at the heart of what they do. The school became part of the University of Chichester Multi-Academy Trust in September 2016, working with other like-minded schools to provide an exceptional education experience for its pupils. 

As Clerk to Governors, we would look to you to provide confidential professional support to the Head of School and Local Governing Body, advising on a wide range of matters, including governance legislation and procedural matters including statutory changes, to ensure obligations in accordance with the Trust’s, Academy’s and statutory requirements are met. You will prepare for and service a range of meetings held after the school closes, the number of which will be on average 15 a year. You will be the first point of contact for the Local Governing Board, liaising with appropriate third parties as necessary to ensure advice is accurate and current.

With knowledge of current educational developments and a willingness to undertake training, you will be pro-active and confident in working with minimum supervision, whilst being a valued member of the wider Trust team. You will be able to write accurate and concise minutes, and have organisation and time management skills that ensure a professional service in a timely, efficient and effective manner.
