The Governing Body of Prospect School invites applications for the role of Clerk to Governors who reports directly to the Chair of Governors.  The Governors are seeking to appoint an experienced, motivated and efficient Clerk to the Governors to work closely with the Chair of Governors, Headteacher and other Governors.  The successful candidate will ideally have proven clerking experience, excellent organisation and administrative skills and be able to communicate effectively.

We are looking for an effective and efficient administrator who will provide proactive support with agenda setting, including the production of a draft agenda for each meeting; issuing the agenda and all the supporting paperwork; attendance at meetings to take minutes and provide advice on governance issues when required; the preparation, amendment and issuing of the minutes; provide advice to the governing body on governance, constitutional and procedural matters; general administrative support for the governing body; the clerking of any additional meetings; understand and abide by the confidential nature of the role at all times; be conversant with general IT, as all of the paperwork is sent out via email.

Meetings will take place approximately 3 times per term (we operate a six-term school year).  They are usually held on Tuesdays at 5.30pm and last approximately 2 hours.  Other than attendance at meetings, the role can be carried out both from home and also within the School but at times to suit the post holder (whilst ensuring agreed deadlines are met).  Access to a home computer and competency using Word are essential.  The ability to work flexible hours is important, as some weeks will require more hours than others, averaging 5 hours per week over the course of the year.

Experience is desirable but not essential as training will be provided. Visits to the school are warmly welcomed and encouraged.

Please apply as soon as possible, using the application form which can be downloaded from the School website or obtained from the school.  Applicants are encouraged to seek information about the School via the website: www.prospect.reading.sch.uk.   Only applications submitted on the school’s application form or through TES will be considered.  Please contact the Recruitment Officer, Abi Davis, on 0118 9590466 x252 or email adavis@prospect.reading.sch.uk for further information.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The recruitment of the successful applicant will be subject to enhanced DBS certificate and registration with the update service. Prospect School is an equal opportunities employer.

Closing date is Sunday 30th June at 5pm

We encourage early applications, and reserve the right to close this vacancy at any time should the right candidate be found.
