Job overview
Lyonsdown is an independent preparatory school for girls from the age of 3 – 11 and for boys from the age of 3 – 7. We are a charity and a limited company, governed by a Board whose members fulfil the roles of governors, charity trustees and company directors. We are looking for a Clerk who can support us in achieving excellence in governance, working in partnership with our Chair and Board members, Head and School Business Manager.
We would like to hear from you if you are an experienced Clerk or governance professional, ideally but not necessarily in the independent education sector, or if you are someone who can offer what we are looking for in key areas and would be excited to learn and develop in the role with our support. You will need to be able to manage your own time effectively, be comfortable chasing busy professionals to ensure deadlines are met and confident in taking the initiative to find relevant information on behalf of the Board. A flexible approach to working hours is essential, to accommodate early morning, daytime and evening meetings, as is your tact, diplomacy and ability to maintain confidentiality at all times.
Lyonsdown is a welcoming and vibrant school community with a dedicated, enthusiastic and friendly Board committed to developing its own effectiveness and valuing the Clerk’s role in facilitating good governance.
The school is members of the ISA, IAPS, AGBIS and ISBA.
