An exciting opportunity for the right individual to join us as Clerk to the Governing Body. Commencing at the end of September 2017.
The successful candidate:
- Will be responsible for advising the governing body on governance legislation and procedural matters before during and after meetings and act as a first point of contact between governors and 3rd parties.
- Will be responsible for preparing agendas for Governors’ meetings, taking minutes at Governors’ meetings and ensuring that meetings are quorate.
- Will be responsible for managing all Governor information and maintaining appropriate records.
The clerk’s role will be school based. Some evening sessions will be required when Governors’ meetings are held. Typically, these are 3 per term.
A level of flexibility and use of initiative are essential requirements for this role.

Salary: Level 4 point 17
£17,772 Pro Rata (actual £1,981)
5 hours per week 38 weeks per year

About Hayes School
Hayes Primary School is a happy, thriving school in the seaside town of Paignton.
There are 455 children on roll including part time nursery children. The children are mixed ability with two classes per year group. The school has been fully refurbished over the past years and now boasts a nursery, early years and main school building. There is a large playing field, several playgrounds and a happy school community to fill them all!
Hayes School is the only school in Great Britain to teach all children to play steel drums and marimbas. We participate in South Devon Music Proms and Music for Youth competitions where we have been privileged to perform in the Queen Elizabeth Hall in London.
The school has a stable, loyal staff including full time posts in Business Management, Financial Management, Pastoral Support, and Music and Drama.
Hayes School is situated approximately one mile from the town centre opposite a natural woodland and within a pleasant residential area.
