Job overview

Clerk to the Governors

USTS6 - £22,877-26,855 (circa £13.00ph)

Hours are variable

We are seeking to appoint a Clerk to Governors to support our dedicated Local Governing Body.

The Magna Carta School would like to recruit a new Clerk to Governors to provide an efficient and professional clerking service to the Local Governing Body. This will include providing both procedural advice in carrying out its statutory obligations and administrative support in fulfilling its strategic functions.

The position will report directly to the Chair of Governors for the management of all meetings, the procedures for the appointment of new governors and initiating the non-routine correspondence on behalf of the Local Governing Body.  There may also be an opportunity to minute occasional additional meetings of smaller groups by arrangement.

We are looking for an organised person with excellent interpersonal and literacy skills with a flexible approach to working hours, as these can vary from week to week. There is a requirement to minute all Committee Meetings, approximately two per term and the Local Governing Body meetings (four per annum).

The role is based on 30-40 hours per term, term time only, with most meetings scheduled in advance throughout the academic year, normally from 4.30pm to 6.30pm.  These hours will not be evenly split across the year with more required in some weeks than others.

The successful applicant will be expected to work predominantly from home and have access to a computer and the internet. They should also be able to maintain confidentiality at all times and have experience of note or minute taking.  Full training will be provided to the successful candidate.
