Lead the Future of Estates Management in Education

We are seeking an experienced and driven Cluster Estates Manager to play a pivotal leadership role within our innovative Project Pioneer operating model.

This role represents a significant step forward in how we manage and maintain our estate. As we move away from historically fragmented, school-led estates management, we are establishing a professional, centrally accountable and cluster-delivered estates function that delivers assurance, consistency and value for money across our Trust.

As Cluster Estates Manager, you will hold responsibility for a portfolio of schools, ensuring that our buildings, grounds and facilities provide safe, compliant and inspiring environments where pupils and staff can thrive.

About the Role

Working as part of the wider Trust Estates Team, you will be accountable for the safety, compliance, condition and operational effectiveness of the Trust estate across a defined group of schools.

You will lead estates operations across multiple sites, ensuring the effective delivery of maintenance, statutory compliance, capital projects and lifecycle planning. Through strong leadership and professional expertise, you will support educational delivery by providing safe, secure and well-maintained learning environments while contributing to the Trust's long-term strategic estates objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee estates provision across multiple school sites.

  • Lead on maintenance, repairs, servicing, testing and planned improvements to buildings and facilities.

  • Deliver school and Trust-funded estates projects from conception through to completion.

  • Ensure schools benefit from safe, secure and operationally effective environments.

  • Line manage Building Supervisors working across Trust school sites, providing support, guidance and performance management.

  • Monitor, review and manage estates-related contracts to ensure quality, compliance and value for money.

  • Oversee Health and Safety across multiple sites, ensuring robust compliance with statutory and non-statutory legislation.

  • Identify, assess and mitigate estates-related risks across the cluster.

  • Support strategic estates planning, lifecycle management and investment programmes.

  • Contribute to the development of a consistent, professional and customer-focused estates service across the Trust.

About You

We are looking for a highly organised and proactive estates professional with experience of managing complex estates operations across multiple sites.

You will have:

  • Significant experience in estates, facilities, property or building management.

  • Strong knowledge of Health and Safety requirements and statutory compliance obligations.

  • Experience of managing contractors and service agreements.

  • Proven ability to lead and develop teams.

  • Excellent organisational, communication and stakeholder management skills.

  • Experience of managing budgets, projects and competing priorities.

  • A commitment to delivering high-quality services that support educational excellence.

Experience within the education sector or a multi-site environment would be advantageous, but we welcome applications from candidates with transferable estates management expertise from other sectors.

Why Join Us?

This is an exciting opportunity to help shape and deliver a modern, trust-wide estates function that directly impacts the experience of thousands of pupils, staff and wider communities across Sheffield.

You will join a collaborative Trust committed to continuous improvement, professional development and creating outstanding learning environments for every child.

If you have the expertise, leadership skills and ambition to help us build a safe, sustainable and high-performing estate, we would love to hear from you.

At INOVA, our vision is clear and unapologetically ambitious: Transforming lives through the power of learning.

We are a values-led trust, committed to Innovation, Collaboration, and Excellence. These principles guide everything we do — from the way we educate and support our learners, to how we develop our staff and engage with our communities.

Each of our schools is unique, shaped by its local context, and we are proud to celebrate that diversity. But what unites us is a shared commitment to equity, high standards, and the belief that every child — regardless of background, need, or starting point — deserves a brilliant education and the opportunity to succeed.

At the heart of INOVA is a people-centred culture. We believe that when we invest in people, we invest in futures. That’s why we have created a trust model that is agile, responsive, and grounded in trust — one that removes unnecessary noise from schools and enables headteachers and staff to focus on what really matters: the young people we serve.

Our central teams provide high-quality support and challenge, reducing workload and unlocking capacity at school level. From curriculum development and inclusion, to safeguarding, wellbeing, and digital transformation, we direct more resources where they matter most — into classrooms, into staff development, and into building futures full of possibility.

We also believe in doing things differently — whether that’s through our Institute of Talent, our evidence-led school improvement strategy, or our collaborative leadership networks. We don’t just strive for compliance — we strive for brilliance.
