Would you like to come and work with us, as part of a pioneering Alternative Provision. To make a contribution towards our journey to Outstanding.

Do you want to work in an optimistic and motivating environment, supported by effective leadership at all levels?

If you have the resilience to work in a dynamic, trauma-informed environment, with pupils that have social, emotional, academic and mental health needs we would be delighted to hear from you.

We are looking for an experienced, passionate individual to fill the full-time role of Coaching Mentor. This is a challenging but very rewarding role supporting some of the most vulnerable pupils in Reading that have been excluded from a mainstream school or at risk of permanent exclusion. To reignite the fire of learning and encourage them to be the best version of themselves so that they can ultimately reach their full potential.

This role will support the development of the curriculum at Cranbury College, with a particular focus on sport, Duke of Edinburgh and the personal development of students.

The successful candidate should have:

  • Experience working with secondary-aged pupils with emotional, behavioural, and social difficulties in a learning environment.
  • Experience of working with disaffected, challenging, and vulnerable young people.
  • Experience or understanding of work in a diverse community and some knowledge of strategies to tackle issues of equality whilst promoting social justice.
  • Experience of leading practical sessions with younger people, for example, sports activities, youth club leader, mentoring, cadet leader.

We are a multi-site organisation which includes our College Road Site – Primary and Cranbury Road Site – Secondary. We have an Outreach Behaviour Support Team, offer medical tuition and have a Hospital Teaching Service based at Royal Berkshire Hospital.
