College Counsellor: Student Support

To provide an effective, confidential counselling service to students.

Rate of pay: Scale SO1, Points 32 – 34, £29,659 - £31,627 per annum (pro rata) equivalent to £10,215 - £10,893 per annum.

Hours of Work: 16 hours per week (including evening work and occasional early mornings and weekends).

Contract: Permanent, part time, part year, 35.8 weeks per annum.  

Location: NPTC Group of Colleges (initially based at Neath College).  

Qualifications: The ideal candidate should have a level 6 qualification (degree or equivalent) in Counselling and relevant experience.  You should also hold a level 2 qualification in English and Maths (GCSE or equivalent) and be IT literate to level 2 (with working knowledge of using MS Word and Excel).  Experience of working with young people, knowledge of mental health issues and awareness of the signs of mental illness to facilitate appropriate referrals is essential.
