Djarragun College was established in 2001 as a day and boarding Prep-Year 12 school. Set on a picturesque 18 hectares the school is located 20 kilometres south of Cairns. The College particularly caters to the learning, cultural, social and physical needs of indigenous students.
The philosophy of the College is to nurture a dual identity for its students to successfully navigate both worlds: respecting, understanding and connecting with their own culture, including the school community (a broad indigenous culture) and achieve the same for the global economic world. About the Role:
College Principal
Successful candidate will have the following attributes:
- Extensive knowledge of and experience in the leadership of educational institutions
- Experience working with Indigenous children and/or teenagers who display challenging behaviours, including some who may be considered developmentally ‘at-risk’
- Ability to thrive and lead professionally in complex and challenging situations
- Demonstrated ability to engage stakeholder groups and the community to improve outcomes for the students and/or school as a whole
- January 2020 Start, Contract Length to be negotiated
- Established Indigenous Boarding School
- School is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) and offers significant opportunities in Vocational and Educational training courses (VET)
