We are looking for an experienced Facilities/Site Manager to oversee all building-related activities at Abbey College Cambridge. You will be responsible for preserving the infrastructure and ensuring that facilities are safe and in good condition. You will also be responsible for H&S, Fire and Security on site. 


Your duties and responsibilities will include the following:

Site Facility functions

·       Managing Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) for Hard services.

·       Managing general maintenance with caretakers and external contractors.

·       Managing service contracts and tendering for new contracts.

 

Health and Safety

·       Full responsibility for H&S across the site.

·       Ensure all staff are trained to the levels as required by relevant Laws and Regulations.

·       Lead and manage the college fire team, ensuring full training is in place. Carry out termly fire evacuations in College and Accommodation sites as per regulatory requirements.

·       Ensure the site perimeters are safe and manage the security provision for the site.

 

Management of Facilities Staff

·       Line management responsibility for a team consisting of an Assistant Site Manager and two caretakers, ensuring they are fully aware of their daily/weekly tasks, whilst following H&S requirements.


Qualifications and Experience

You will have proven experience of working as a Facilities/Site Manager/Office Manager within a Commercial or Education environment, be competent in the use of IT, particularly the use of databases and the use Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook. You will have a working knowledge of Health and Safety Legislation and Regulations and Experience of ‘hands-on management’ of a site. Facilities Management or H&S qualification such as NEBOSH or equivalent IOSH (Level 3) is highly desirable as well as previous experience of working in an education setting and managing a team.

Checks and Training

• Enhanced DBS checks to ascertain successful candidates suitability to work with children will be carried out. This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974, and therefore all convictions, cautions and bindovers, including those regarded as ‘spent’ must be declared.

• Online searches will be carried out on candidates for any unsuitable content by or about candidates.

• Two written & verbal references from previous employers and a personal reference will be sought. Referees will be asked about candidates suitability to work with children and whether they know of any disciplinary offences relating to children or young persons and whether candidates have been the subject of any child protection allegations or concerns and if so the outcome of any enquiry or disciplinary procedure.

• Candidates full employment history will be checked, any significant gaps will require explanation and proof of any relevant qualifications will need to be provided.

• Successful candidates will be required to complete Child Protection Training via e-learning prior to commencing employment.

• Pre-employment health screening will also be carried out.
