Job overview

Walhampton are creating a brand new role of Commercial Coordinator who will act as the lead for all commercial activities, including lettings, camps, facility hire, retail and public and private events. Working closely with the Estates Bursar, we are looking for a special person to establish the role and start to build a range of commercial activities that makes use of the many outstanding but underutilised facilities the school has to offer.

The successful candidate could come from a range of backgrounds including marketing, retail, commercial, event management or business development. What will be key is their ability to engage and build relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, seek out opportunities and develop these into successful commercial activity all while respecting the School’s primary mission of providing outstanding education to our pupils.

This will be a full time role, initially on a one year fixed term contract, but with significant flexibility required as many commercial events are likely to be at weekends or during school holidays. If you're a dynamic, self-starting, creative individual with a passion for innovation, we want to hear from you.

Full details of the role and person specification can be found in the attached job description.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Act as the lead for all commercial activities including lettings, camps, facility hire, filming, retail, private, public and corporate events etc.
  • Manage the growth and development of commercial income streams utilising school facilities and resources.
  • Develop and deliver plans to maximise the delivery of non fee related income including retail.
  • With the Estates Bursar, help coordinate the planning and delivery of major school events such as Founders Day.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Proven experience in a commercial or business development role, ideally in the education sector.
  • Strong business acumen with a track record of developing and implementing successful commercial strategies.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in financial management and budget control.
  • Flexibility to work weekends and holidays as required

If you're ready to embark on an exciting journey with Walhampton and contribute to the expansion of our commercial endeavours, we want to hear from you!
