In an exciting development for the school, we are seeking a full-time Community Events Manager who will promote the school’s facilities to a wide range of community and commercial groups, and manage the school site out of hours when the facilities are hired out. The role therefore provides an opportunity to hone your business development skills and also to engage with our current, valued customers and local community.
You will work closely with other members of the school community to plan, develop and oversee the booking of sports and community events taking place during the week and at weekends, looking to maximise income generation for the school. At weekends this will involve supervising a small team of leisure assistants who work on a shift basis.
You will generally work 36 hours over the course of the week, which will include evenings and weekends. Exact hours and working days to be agreed: for example, you may work Wednesday through to Sunday one week, but change the following week if there are no bookings on a Thursday evening. Generally we would expect you to be working late afternoon/evening in the week and during the day over weekends. During school holidays the hours will vary as the site may be used at different times.
The role will suit a person who is keen to develop in this new role, enthused by responsibility, and the opportunity to generate income for the school. It is likely that you will have retail/logistics experience, and ideally some experience of supervising others. You will need to be confident, friendly, thorough and have great attention to detail. You must have common sense and be able to use your initiative to solve problems that inevitably arise while managing multiple bookings.
