Are you a student focused and experienced Maths Teacher looking for a new challenge? If so, then look no further! 

Lancashire Adult Learning (LAL) is an adult education college providing opportunities for individuals to learn, develop, work and prosper, at all stages of life. The college is focused on making Lancashire a place where everyone matters; a place where everyone can enjoy equal and quality life chances, and be respected in their communities.

Due to a growth in our provision, we are now looking for a Maths teacher to join our Preparation for Life, English and Maths division – delivering Outstanding sessions to our community learners.

Key duties include:

  • Teaching on a range of community adult programmes in Maths, delivering effective learning.
  • Planning and preparing high quality teaching and learning.
  • Following procedures on RARPA for adult and community learners
  • Ensuring provision is aligned with best practice in community learning.
  • Engaging in curriculum development and planning activities.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have a degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant subject area
  • Possess a teaching qualification, or be willing to work towards one within the first three years of appointment
  • Demonstrate successful Maths teaching experience
  • Highlight the ability to work with a diverse group of learners, delivering community based provision (desirable)

Due to the nature of our delivery, the successful candidate will be required to deliver sessions across Lancashire. As such, the ability to drive and access to a vehicle is highly desirable.

About Nelson and Colne College

Nelson and Colne College, located in the town of Nelson, Lancashire, offers further education to 1,600 full-time students and 3,500 part-time adults. The college was founded during the reorganisation of education in Pendle in the early 1970s and created by the merger of several local sixth forms. 

Recent investments have included a £2m engineering facility, an all-weather sports pitch and gym, fully equipped science laboratories, and student study and social spaces. In January 2017, Nelson and Colne College launched a university centre to offer a range of higher education programmes in East Lancashire and beyond.
