Company Secretary to the Bridgwater College Trust and Constituent Academy Local Governing Bodies

7.5 hours per week, all year round. Based on spot salary at Grade 8, point 14

We are looking for someone to act as Company Secretary to the Bridgwater College Trust and constituent Academy Local Governing Bodies.

The post-holder will ensure the Trust and LGB proceedings are conducted effectively and in accordance with the provisions of the Memorandum and Articles of Association of the Bridgwater College Trust, the rules and regulations made under the Articles, the relevant Education Acts, the Funding Agreement with the Department for Education, Charities Commission and the Education Funding Agency or other appropriate body.

The post holder will secure the continuity of Governing Body business and observe confidentiality requirements.

The successful applicant will need to have a level 3 business administration qualification or equivalent, and have a high standard of literacy and numeracy.

Experience or knowledge of Governance procedures, roles and responsibilities would be advantageous.

Bridgwater College Academy is the only all-through mainstream Academy in Somerset and opened in 2012.  Student numbers are divided equally between Primary and Secondary phases; we also have a nursery provision too. The Academy was the first sponsored Academy within the Bridgwater and Taunton College Trust, which now hosts seven Academies and is itself set to continue to expand in the future.
