We are looking for a Complex Needs Teacher to join our team at Underley Garden in Kirkby Lonsdale. 


About the School

The young people who attend Underley Garden all have an EHCP. Underley meets the needs of a range of SEN including; Autism, Learning Difficulties, Mental Health & Medical needs and related behavioural difficulties.

About the Role

Underley Garden seeks an enthusiastic teacher who can inspire children with complex learning needs whilst offering a range of function and vocational options to our students. Our young people need engaging, creative, practical learning and so teaching staff need the ability to thrive in a flexible curriculum structure and fully utilise our facilities to offer personalised programmes.

Teaching staff at UG are encouraged to take a creative approach, seeking ways to positively engage with and motivate young people through lessons that promote learning as well as develop independence and life skills.

Working as a teacher at Underley Garden, you will teach, plan and deliver the curriculum in accordance with the individual needs of our young people to promote personal development, their well-being and above all, offering a range of opportunities to support their social and communication skills. You will set specific targets for young people, work alongside other teachers to ensure curriculum coverage and create a stimulating learning environment. It is essential you are aware of the young people’s progress and are able to address or flag potential concerns. Safeguarding the welfare of the young people in our care will be your primary responsibility.
