Bury College is a large Further Education College offering a wide range of courses to full time, part time and apprenticeship students each year. The college currently works with a range of local partners, including high-school, employers and voluntary organisations. We are on the look out for a Compliance Administrator to join our MIS Team on a Fixed term basis to cover Maternity from March 2023.

The college generates income from a range of sources, including the Education and Skills Funding Agency and Greater Manchester Combined Authority. Accurate planning and monitoring of all income is critical to the success of the business.

Working within the Funding and Planning department, this role is instrumental in providing a high quality Administrative service to the Apprenticeship Compliance team, with responsibility for producing a range of management reports to support business objectives.


Responsibilities are subject but not limited to

  • Monitoring data input processes on an ongoing basis and inform the Apprentice Compliance Team Leader of any backlog or issues.
  • Collating, analysing and validating relevant data to produce required reports (for example Referrals and Enrolments).
  • Supporting employers to access and update records on the Apprenticeship Service, ensuring that funding is reserved in a timely manner.
  • Liaising with the ESFA Helpdesk and external parties to resolve specific issues as required.
  • Responsible for ensuring that employer payments are invoices and actioned and recorded in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for collecting and recording Apprenticeship Destinations.


Qualifications / Experience required 

  • Maths and English (A* - C) (or equivalent) or Level 2 Literacy and Numeracy - essential
  • Level 2 IT qualification (or willingness to work towards)
  • A Level 3 qualification in Customer Service, Business Administration, IT or equivalent.
  • Minimum of twelve months administrative experience within a direct or similar field
  • Experience of customer services - essential
  • Experience of using Microsoft Office applications and e-mail - essential
  • Experience of working in an educational establishment - desirable
  • Experience of offering advice and guidance - desirable
  • Experience of supporting and understanding adult learners returning to education - desirable


Knowledge and Ability 

  • Ability to analyse and produce reports - essential
  • Excellent communication skills - essential
  • Computer literacy, including the ability to use Microsoft Office applications and e-mail - essential
  • Organisational skills and the ability to work to deadlines whilst maintaining accuracy - essential
  • Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team is essential
  • Knowledge of an FE curriculum offer including Apprenticeships, PT, FT and HE is desirable
  • An understanding of ‘safeguarding’ and its importance within the College, together with a commitment to creating a safe learning/working environment is essential.
