We require an exceptional teacher to add leadership capacity to our outstanding Computer Science team; the opportunity to take a leading role in Maths could be available to the right candidate. We operate a team-based leadership model for Subjects at Honywood and this leadership position would involve the successful applicant working alongside another experienced leader in the Subject Team.

You will need:

 The ability to teach Computer Science to GCSE level and preferably to ‘A’ Level; the ability to teach Maths to GCSE level desirable.

 The mental agility to push your own learning and thinking and the capacity to become an outstanding coach, able to improve the quality of teachers in your team.

 A willingness to participate fully in extra-curricular events including residential experiences.

 A willingness to learn every day as you consistently strive to increase your impact on our youngsters’ learning.

Honywood School is a mixed, non-selective, non-denominational secondary school in Essex, serving students from the age of 11-16. The secondary school, situated in Coggeshall, Colchester has approximately 1,044 students on record. It is in a partnership with Braintree Sixth Form.

Honywood Community Science School converted to academy status in 2011 and was identified as good by Ofsted in 2013. The school is a member of the Jack Petchey Foundation, which identifies nine students every year for their community work or kindness.

Honywood School nurtures students as independent, mature and confident individuals who are fully prepared for a life in a modern and ever changing society. The secondary school believes that all students have the right to a good education to benefit their future opportunities and works to ensure that individuals are enthusiastic about learning and achieving their full potential. Students are encouraged to get involved with extra-curricular activities to enhance their learning experience and gain further skills and confidence. Leadership skills and teamwork is practiced through an active Learner Voice, where student leaders work together to help implement positive changes at the school. Students in Year 10 are given the opportunity to gain work experience in the industry as part of the curriculum, allowing for them to prepare themselves for the responsibilities they will face when leaving school.
