We are now seeking an energetic and inspiring Teacher of Computer Science to join our team.

The Role

We are looking for a passionate educator who can bring Computer Science to life and help students thrive in an increasingly digital world. You will:

  • Teach Computer Science across KS3, KS4 and KS5, delivering engaging and challenging lessons.

  • Plan and deliver high‑quality learning using a range of teaching strategies and technologies.

  • Foster curiosity, creativity and problem‑solving in every lesson.

  • Build an excellent rapport with students, promoting confidence and independence.

  • Play an active role in curriculum development, reviewing schemes of work and contributing new ideas.

  • Lead or support trips, activities and workshops that enhance learning and widen participation.

  • Maintain accurate records of progress, behaviour and achievement in line with school expectations.

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across departments to deliver cross‑curricular opportunities.

  • Communicate effectively with parents and carers, including occasional meetings outside normal hours.

  • Promote high standards of behaviour, digital responsibility and presentation.

About You

We are seeking someone who brings:

  • A degree in a relevant subject and Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

  • A track record of excellent classroom practice, ideally with KS5 experience

  • Strong subject knowledge and passion for Computer Science and technology

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to inspire confidence in students

  • Organisation, resilience and a proactive, positive approach

  • Warmth, empathy and a belief in the potential of every learner

  • Confident use of ICT for teaching, assessment and classroom organisation

  • A commitment to professional development and innovative practice

Akeley Wood School is an independent co-educational day school for 700 children aged 12 months to 18 years. It is housed across three beautiful campuses in North Buck/South Northants. Wicken Park is for our Nursery to Year 6 students, Akeley Wood House is for our Senior School age children, 11-16 and our new dedicated Sixth Form, campus AW6 opened at our Tile House Mansion building this September.

The School’s primary aim is that pupils should develop their individual talents and personal qualities in whatever direction they may lie, although we do place a particular emphasis on the best possible academic achievement. Most importantly, we hope that pupils will genuinely enjoy and value their time here and will take with them not only the best possible qualifications, but also a sense of purpose, a belief in themselves, firm friendships and a caring attitude towards those around them.

Akeley Wood has a long tradition, but a direction that looks to the future, preparing young people for life in the twenty-first century. The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme
The Scheme is a major part of school life for older pupils, encouraging such qualities as perseverance, initiative
leadership. Pupils begin with the Bronze Award at the age of 13 and proceed to the Gold Award in the Sixth Form. Recent expeditions have taken place
the Yorkshire Dales, the White and Peak Districts of Derbyshire, the Forest of Dean and the Cotswolds.
