Summary of the role
The post holder will be responsible for teaching Design, Technology and Engineering to pupils from Year 4 to Year 8 at Devonshire House School. The post holder will work closely with the Coding, Robotics and Electronics and Art teachers to ensure the provision at Devonshire House remains at a consistently high standard, with high quality lessons across all the relevant year groups.
The computer science teacher will have strong digital graphics skills and a knowledge of Procreate and Adobe Photoshop.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
KEY TASKS
• Teach Design, Technology & Engineering across the year groups
• Lead clubs and trips
• Organise STEM activities
• Adhere to the relevant Health and Safety Policies and produce risk assessments as required and contribute to any relevant policies where required.
• Promote effective reporting across the department and supporting colleagues with content and deadlines.
• To be part of the delivery of schemes of work, amending and developing with colleagues where required.
• Undertake any other reasonable requests made by your line manager.
Person Specification
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Essential criteria:
· Strong digital graphics skills and a knowledge of Procreate and Adobe Photoshop.
· Competent in software such as PowerPoint, Excel, Google Slide and Word.
· Excellent ICT skills.
Desirable criteria:
· Experience of the Independent school environment.
· Experience of working with children of Prep school age.
Professional Qualifications and Continuing Professional Development
Essential criteria:
• An Honours degree (or equivalent) in the relevant subject.
• QTS through Post Graduate Certificate in Education/ GTP (or equivalent).
Desirable criteria:
· Appropriate school-oriented training and qualification(s)

• A team player.
• Good organisational skills.
• Resilient and resourceful.
• Excellent practitioner able to inspire pupils
• Ability to make decisions quickly and solve problems as and when they arise.
