Job Description

  • Work directly with children in the Secondary school, developing an IT curriculum together with the team, where the class content will be based on a modern computing curriculum.
  • Changing perceptions of IT away from the use of spreadsheets and desktop publishing towards a more modern view
  • Be well versed in ASCII languages and/or Python
  • Assist in communication with current parents as required.
  • Respect and value each child’s social, cultural and religious background and by example, provide mutual respect and tolerance.
  • Share in the management of pastoral care, health, welfare and behaviour of all pupils and in particular, those within your designated class group.
  • Undertake the teaching of a class in accordance with the school’s agreed policies and guidelines.
  • Use a variety of appropriate teaching and caring methods to ensure high quality learning takes place.
  • Maintain professional dialogue with colleagues concerning the children, other colleagues and the school. Treat all information with confidentiality.
  • Ensure the provision of equal opportunities for all.
  • Encourage children to take pride in their own environment and show respect and concern for others, to the benefit of the school as a caring community.
  • Create an interesting and lively classroom which promotes independent learning.
  • Foster an understanding of the main principles of solving problems using computers
  • Develop in learners the skills necessary to solve computer-based problems using a high-level programming language
  • Share an understanding of the component parts of computer systems and how they interrelate
  • Create an understanding of the internet as a means of communication and its associated risks
  • Ensure that learners have an understanding of the development and use of automated and emerging technologies.
  • Act as the school lead for online safety and wellbeing
  • Be an advocate for the schools digital STEAM focus
  • Any other duties as required by the Principal.


Qualifications

  • At least 2 – 5 years relevant professional teaching experience;
  • The candidate should hold a minimum of a Bachelor Degree in Education or equivalent, which is obtained from a recognised University or College involving not less than 3 years full time study;
  • Teachers Certificates, Diplomas or other Teacher Accreditation courses and certification are required if the applicant’s degree is not in Education;
  • IB PYP course and training are highly valued;
  • Knowledge of or willingness to acquire knowledge of inquiry based learning is required;
  • Applicants must provide original copies of their Certificates and academic transcripts for authentication;
  • International experience, especially in Asia is highly regarded.
