Job overview
Our Technology department currently delivers the WJEC Vocational Award in ICT at Key Stage 4 (Years 10 and 11), and a broad spectrum of IT and computing skills and knowledge at Key Stage 3. Depending upon your previous experience, we would consider offering GCSE Computing going forward as part of our options process into Key Stage 4. Whilst you will be responsible for planning and delivery of Key Stage 3 and 4 Computing and IT courses, you will have the support of a dedicated Director of Computing through the Trust. We take a collaborative approach to planning and delivery, and whilst you will be encouraged to be innovative and dynamic in your teaching, you will be supported through the availability of outstanding resources and highly experienced mentoring.
The academy is equipped with dedicated IT facilities for the delivery of IT and Computing, and is in the process of planning for a major rebuilding project to start within the next two to three years; IT and Computing resources will be highly integrated into our new school buildings. As part of our expansion, we are planning to begin delivering courses post-16. This will open up new possibilities for the delivery of computing and IT qualifications to sixth form students in the near future.
In addition to the opportunity to make an important difference during the timetabled school day, there are opportunities for you to offer students the chance to experience extra curricular activities through our enrichment programme. We invite all our teachers to develop students’ broader personal development by sharing their own skills and interests through this important part of our curriculum.

The NIoT identifies best practice in education, in order to develop cutting-edge, evidence-based teacher training and professional development programmes. All our teaching colleagues benefit from the work of the institute, which draws on the expertise of some of the most outstanding school leaders in education today.
In addition to the academy’s close partnership with the NIoT, you will benefit from weekly professional development training to ensure that you are equipped with the knowledge and skills to make a significant difference to the life chances of the students you will work with. This is an important part of our commitment to you.
The academy has good transport links from Nottingham, Mansfield, Chesterfield and surrounding areas. We are within walking distance of Kirkby-in-Ashfield railway station, and have on-site parking facilities available for staff.
We also offer a generous employment package with a whole host of staff benefits, including:
- family friendly policies

- funded CPD for qualifications up to and including Masters level
- plus other exclusive benefits including a partnership with car leasing company, Synergy.
