The Opportunity
Barnsley College is seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Lecturer in Computing to join our Digital & Creative Industries Department.
This is a fixed term contract until 29th October 2027.
This is an exciting opportunity to inspire and develop the next generation of computing professionals, delivering engaging and innovative teaching across a range of programmes including software development, programming, cyber security, networking and emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence.
Working with learners across Further Education, Adult provision and Higher Education, you will play a key role in delivering an outstanding learning experience that supports student achievement, progression and employability.
You will contribute to curriculum planning, assessment, quality improvement and the ongoing development of courses, ensuring that teaching remains current, relevant and aligned to industry standards.
As part of a forward-thinking and ambitious team, you will support learners both academically and pastorally, helping them achieve their full potential while contributing to the continued success and growth of the department.
About You
You will be passionate about computing and committed to delivering high-quality teaching that motivates and inspires learners.
With experience of working within an educational setting, you will be confident delivering specialist computing subjects to a diverse range of students and adapting your teaching approach to meet individual learning needs.
You will have strong industry and/or academic knowledge in computing, including areas such as programming, cyber security, networking or artificial intelligence, alongside excellent communication and organisational skills.
You will be proactive, flexible and committed to supporting learner success through engaging teaching, constructive feedback and effective pastoral support.

Required
Degree (or equivalent qualification) in a relevant Computing or IT subject
Teaching qualification (Cert Ed, PGCE or equivalent)
GCSE Maths and English (Grade A-C/4-9) or equivalent Level 2 qualification
Experience of working within an education setting in a teaching and/or assessment capacity within the last two years
Knowledge of specialist software and technologies relating to networking, cyber security and programming
Experience of delivering learning to a range of learners
Experience of developing learning materials and resources
A successful record of working with employers to inform curriculum planning.
