Computing Teacher (Including ICT)

HeadStart is based in the centre of Phuket Island and gained ‘International School’ status in 2010 and is a fully accredited International School with The Education Development Trust. In our most recent inspection, we were awarded the International Schools Quality Mark (ISQM) with accreditors recognising the school to be a ‘Good School with Outstanding Features’.

Our curriculum is based on the national curriculum of England and we offer Cambridge & Pearson qualifications in Secondary including IGCSEs, A Levels and BTECs. The school has 920 students on roll and is oversubscribed in most year groups.

In August 2023 we will be opening a new campus in the north of the island in Cherngtalay. Initially, this will be a single form entry Foundation and Primary school for up to 200 students. This is a four phase project in what will become a three-form through school for students aged 2 to 18 years.

We have been offering Cambridge qualifications throughout all Key Stages including IGCSEs & A Levels for many years. In addition we now also offer BTEC and LAMDA programmes.

Computer Science / ICT Teacher –

We are looking to appoint a motivated and enthusiastic Computing teacher for August 2023. The successful candidate will be able to teach across the age range 11-18 and will have experience of teaching Cambridge IGCSE and A Level Computer Science, or experience of teaching GCSE/A Level in a UK based school.  

We are in the process of expanding the options for students in IGCSE and post-16 and experience of teaching ICT in KS4 or Pearson BTEC ICT would also be beneficial.

We are looking for a highly committed team player with drive, energy and passion, who will inspire a love of learning within their students. A good sense of humour and an excellent work ethic are essential. 

Requirements / Application Details – 

Essential Requirements:

· Good Knowledge of the UK based curriculum and experience of teaching students aged 14 years and above

· Sound understanding of the assessment requirements for IGCSE & A Level Computer Science

· Bachelor’s degree from a recognised university

· A recognised teaching qualification: BEd.; PGCE; iPGCE or equivalent

· Must be a fluent English speaker

Desirable Requirements (not essential):

· Previous experience in an International School environment

· Experience of teaching learners who have English as an Additional Language.
