Job overview
If you are passionate about demonstrating how Computing and ICT can shape young people’s understanding of the world, and you are committed to working with students of all ages and abilities, we would welcome your application.
Caterham High School is proud of its inclusive ethos and welcoming culture. At the heart of our work is a strong commitment to improving the life chances of our young people. You will be joining a school community that supports an exceptionally diverse cohort and is driven by a clear moral purpose. Staff are encouraged to continually develop their practice to meet students’ needs, gaining strong professional satisfaction within a school shaped by inclusion.
We are seeking motivated, reflective and independent professionals who are keen to contribute to the school’s ongoing development. We value educational research and evidence informed practice, and we are looking for teachers who share this commitment. We are particularly interested in specialists of chemistry and physics.
This is an excellent opportunity for a talented and innovative individual to join our successful Business and Computing team. We are determined to improve outcomes for all students and to promote the importance of Computing in helping young people understand themselves and the world around them.
We are justifiably proud of our Good Ofsted judgement (June 2022), which recognised our positive learning environment and caring community. As a community school in East London, we celebrate diversity and rigorously promote equality and inclusion. We believe every student should feel valued, supported and challenged. We have two Alternative Resource Provisions - one for Deaf children and one for children with Autism - as well as inclusive Curriculum Pathways that enable access and support strong academic achievement.
Our most recent inspection noted that students “conduct themselves in a calm and orderly manner around school and behave well in lessons.” Our students are polite, friendly and benefit from excellent relationships with staff.
Early Career Teachers (ECTs) are warmly encouraged to apply. We offer an excellent support programme for ECTs and trainee teachers and are active members of the Seven Kings Teaching School Alliance, providing a wide range of high quality professional development opportunities.
We are committed to staff development at all stages, including leadership opportunities, and there are possibilities to teach across the full secondary age range, including Sixth Form. Students finish early every second Friday to support professional learning as part of our strong and well established CPD programme.
Staff wellbeing is a priority. We offer a range of wellbeing activities, free access to our fitness suite and swimming pool, free parking, and a friendly, welcoming staff culture.
Are you interested? If so, please see complete an application through the TES or use the application pack and form which are on our website.
Completed application forms should be e-mailed to recruitment@ecaterham.net by 10.00am Tuesday 5th May 2026 . Please note, the school will assess applications on receipt and may arrange to interview successful applicants before the deadline.
The school has an excellent culture or safeguarding and is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Offer of a position is subject to receiving satisfactory references and an Enhanced DBS Clearance. We endeavour to reply to all applicants but if you have not received a response within two weeks of the closing date please assume you have not been shortlisted.
References may be taken up for shortlisted candidates prior to interview unless you indicate on your application form that you do not wish your current employer to be approached prior to interview.
In accordance with KCSiE, Safer Recruitment Guidelines and Data Protection Guidelines, we reserve the right to use social media as part of our recruitment processes. Further details are available from the LGA guidance note. If you would like to discuss this further, please contact the school.

About Caterham High School
Caterham High has been at the heart of the local community for over 60 years providing an excellent education for all young people that join our thriving institution. We are ambitious for our students, setting high aspirations in all that they do. We aim to ensure that they achieve the best exam results possible, have opportunities to develop their talents and aptitudes, and become confident young people who will step out to meet the challenges of the world today.
We pride ourselves on providing an outstanding learning environment in which all students realise their full potential. As a six form entry school we know our students very well, catering for the needs of the individual and ensuring strong pastoral and academic support. This makes us popular with students and staff alike who thrive on good working relationships and caring attitudes that create a warm, purposeful atmosphere. Our students come from a wide range of backgrounds, with many races, religions, cultures and languages represented. We celebrate our diversity and welcome the opportunities it gives us to learn from each other.
Our home-school partnerships are very strong. For students to maximise their potential, it is vital that parents and carers and the school work productively together. We use regular monitoring, target setting and dialogue with students and parents and carers to ensure students make good progress. There are many opportunities, formal and informal, for dialogue, which we strongly welcome.
We have an expanding and responsive curriculum aimed at enhancing choice and opportunity for students as they progress through the school from Year 7 to Year 13. Our teaching is both innovative and challenging both in content and delivery, and ICT is used throughout the school to bring the curriculum to life and to stimulate and engage students in their learning. We make good use of our facilities (including the astro-turf pitch, pool, fitness suite and dance studio) and ensure that every child can be involved in the enrichment opportunities on offer.
Caterham High is a school with great strengths. Students of all ages are eager to learn and take pride in their school. They are the perfect ambassadors for us.
Please do not hesitate to contact the school if you would like to arrange an appointment to visit.
We thank you for your interest in our School and look forward to hearing from you.
