Job overview
We are looking for a skilled Computing Teacher who shares our commitment to children being safe, happy and successful. We use the National Curriculum of England in KS3 and the Cambridge IGCSE Computer Science syllabus in Key Stage 4, and we are keen to introduce it as an A Level subject.
Our School
Located in the city of Hatyai in southern Thailand, Bloomsbury International School Hatyai is a co-educational International Independent School. Bloomsbury was founded in 2014 and offers a British style curriculum to both day and boarding students. Our school is small with around 200 students aged from 2-18, with an average class size of 15. We are committed to supporting and challenging every student achieving their very best. The students here universally want to do well, and all interactions are based upon obvious and clear respect. Parents are engaged, informed and supportive.
We have received full accreditation from CIS, one of only 20 schools in Thailand to achieve this accolade. This is a great place to work, alongside a fully qualified, dedicated and friendly staff team.
We value CPD for all members of our team and want all staff to develop during their time with us. We know that the ability to progress as effective practitioners attracts the best teachers. We also recognise everyone has something to offer and want to recruit staff to bring and share their experience. As a small school, we need everyone to lead and to be part of the team.
Key Criteria
The successful candidate will:
Be completely fluent in English.
Have Qualified Teacher status in the UK, or a licence to teach computing or a related discipline to children aged 11-18 in an English speaking jurisdiction.
Have the knowledge and skills to teach Computing up to A Level, and ideally experience of doing so.
Have a professional manner and the ability to communicate clearly and well
Be approachable, knowledgeable and committed to excellence
Be caring and ready to collaborate in a professional team
Location
Hatyai is located in southern Thailand, only 40 minutes' drive from the nearest beaches in Songkhla and within easy reach of Krabi, Phuket, Koh Samui and Koh Lipe, as well as Penang and Langkawi across the border in Malaysia. The international airport offers 16 flights per day to Bangkok and daily flights to Singapore and Kuala Lumpur, both of which are only a short distance away, opening up the rest of Asia. It is easy to spend your weekends or holidays exploring this beautiful part of the world.
Hatyai itself is an up and coming city without the high cost of living found in other more well known destinations in Thailand. There are large western style malls and supermarkets, and many bars and restaurants providing a range of international food, yet Hatyai retains a very 'Thai' feel. People are very friendly and helpful, welcoming you with the famous Thai smile.
