Computing Teacher

Gatehouse School is seeking an enthusiastic and skilled practitioner who is passionate

about computing education and enjoys working collaboratively as part of a team. They

will be committed to developing pupils’ confidence, creativity and independence through

a high-quality computing curriculum, from Early Years through to Year 6.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging, progressive computing lessons across EYFS to Year 6, in line

with the National Curriculum and EYFS framework

  • Use adaptive teaching strategies to scaffold learning and provide appropriate support

and challenge for all pupils

  • Monitor pupil progress and contribute to the evaluation and development of

computing provision across the school

  • Integrate both online and offline learning experiences to deepen understanding

  • Promote safe, responsible and effective use of technology in line with the school’s

online safety expectations

  • Lead and develop computing across the school, supporting colleagues through CPD to

enhance teaching and learning using technology

  • Raise the profile of computing across the school through enrichment opportunities

and high-quality teaching

  • Manage online learning platforms, including homework and intervention tools

  • Assist in the development and delivery of online assessments and tracking systems

  • Lead and develop extra-curricular opportunities (e.g. coding or micro:bit clubs)

  • Promote and support participation in local and national computing competitions

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and support staff to ensure consistency and

progression

Person Specification

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent

  • Excellent classroom practice across the primary age range, including EYFS

  • Strong subject knowledge in computing and a clear understanding of progression from

EYFS to Key Stage 2

  • A commitment to current best practice and research-informed pedagogy

  • The ability to respond to the needs of all learners through appropriate support and

challenge

  • High expectations of pupils and themselves

  • Confidence in using and supporting a range of digital platforms and technologies

  • Strong organisational skills, including supporting assessment and data tracking

systems

  • The ability to inspire curiosity, creativity and resilience in young learners

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • A willingness to contribute to the wider life and strategic development of the school

  • Experience of leading or contributing to a subject area, particularly computing

(desirable)
