About North East Surrey College of Technology - NESCOT

Nescot

Nescot is located in the Borough of Epsom and Ewell, a mile from Epsom town centre and a thirty minute train ride to central London. Communications are good with a mainline railway station adjacent to the campus and close proximity to the M25 motorway.

The College is on a single site, housed in a large campus which has undergone a significant transformation over the last two years. Investment of around £40 million has been made to add new buildings, refurbish existing ones and introduce facilities for new areas of learning. We secured some funding support from Coast to Capital Local Enterprise Partnership and other sources, and much of the finance came from receipts from land sales. The Board of Governors has earmarked funds to continue a programme of refurbishment of the older buildings.

Nescot employs around 600 staff and has a turnover of £22 million. 6594 students enrolled at the College in 2015/16 and 1135 apprentices enrolled with us. There were 450 higher education students. The largest number of 16 to 18 full-time students are studying at level 3 and success rates, including the proportion of high grades, have been very strong for this cohort in recent years. We were inspected by OFSTED in January 2016 who judged the College 'good' with effective safeguarding. Nescot's previous inspection was in 2010 when the College was also rated as 'good'. The most recent QAA review of higher education at Nescot in 2012 provided confidence in all areas and a number of commendations.

The College is in very good financial shape. SFA classify the College's finances to be outstanding and the financial forecast for the next five years indicates a continued strong position.

The College was a participant in the Surrey Area Based Review of general FE and sixth form colleges which concluded in July 2016. The review recommended that Nescot continues as an independent further education corporation, and continues its programme of collaborative working with the other three Surrey GFE colleges, particularly around higher education, apprenticeships and shared services developments. We are happy to take forward this work and we enjoy productive working relationships with our FE partners in Surrey. The College also enjoys very positive partnership working with the Borough of Epsom and Ewell Council, Surrey County Council and our university partners, Kingston, Greenwich and Surrey. The Nescot in its Community publication gives more detail about our partnerships.

Building on our large number of employer partners will be a key task for the future. Apprenticeship numbers have grown substantially in recent years and of course that needs to continue. And while College finances are sound, we are keen to diversify income streams and will be seeking to grow full cost and other commercial income streams.

We are able to offer you a final salary pension scheme, generous holidays and the facilities of a College campus set in 7 acres of green belt in a peaceful setting.  The College has excellent transport links and is set in a location convenient to London and the South East and offers a large free on-site car park.
