The Together Trust provides a range of social care, special education, community support and consultancy services in the North West of England. The charity is one of the North West’s largest providers of residential homes for children from short-term emergency care to long-term placements. Our fostering service provides family placements in the North West and neighbouring regions.

Ashcroft School, one of our specialist education services, are now looking to appoint an enthusiastic and experienced Teacher for their construction centre ‘Building Opportunities’.

Building Opportunities offers a range of construction subjects such as; Bricklaying, Groundwork, Joinery, Painting and Decorating and some water plumbing up to and including Level 3. Some teaching of Resistant Materials and Design may also be required at KS3.

As the lead Teacher, you will be responsible for co-ordinating the teams development of a range of courses in construction services appropriate to our pupils and young people on alternative provision. Ensuring all courses are tailored to meet the individual needs and interests of each cohort of learners, you will ensure outcomes are maximised and be held accountable for the centre’s overall performance. You will also be responsible for exam entries, overseeing coursework completion and collation and for liaising with Ashcroft Assessment and Exam Co-ordinators.

We’re looking for an outstanding classroom practitioner who holds a nationally recognised teaching qualification such as QTS / QTLS or equivalent. With substantial experience of teaching a range of construction subjects, you will have a good understanding of pupils with complex SEMH and associated additional needs such as ADHD and FAS dyslexia and be a positive role model to all members of the School community, showing a commitment to the School vision.

With proven skills in raising attainment and knowledge of high quality teaching and learning strategies, you will be an effective communicator with a range of audiences and be passionate and enthusiastic to succeed. You will need to be well organised, loyal and hardworking and have a good understanding of the Ofsted inspection framework.
