The Heights Burnley seek to appoint a Construction Tutor to join the school from September 2025 (or as soon as possible), working full time and term time (39 weeks per year). The actual salary for this position will be from £27,323 to £30,989 per annum.

What does this job do?
  • To carry out effectively the duties of a vocational instructor for construction within an alternative provision school.
  • To instruct and tutor classes in areas to include woodworking, machine operating, paint & decorating and as designated within an agreed framework of syllabus, styles and procedures including:
  • Preparing and delivering lessons according to agreed schemes of work and keeping accurate records of work and independent learning set

What are the job requirements?
  • City & Guilds – Construction or equivalent
  • Ability to strategically plan a subject area.
  • Ability to identify realistic and challenging targets for improvement in the subject areas.
  • Ability to ensure curriculum coverage continuity and progression in the subject, for all pupils.
  • Experience of ensuring that the learning environment is safe and that risks are adequately assessed.
  • Sound up to date subject knowledge
  • Relevant and recent industry experience and a willingness to maintain industry updates and standards.
