Job overview

We are looking to appoint a dynamic and enthusiastic Supervisor/Cook to lead a team of Catering Assistants to prepare and serve meals to students, staff and visitors  in our busy school kitchen.

You will be responsible for cooking meals  for the busy lunch service for 3 schools on site, supported by Chef Manager and 4 Catering Assistants. You will demonstrate excellent communication skills, thrive in a busy environment, work at pace and deal calmly with unexpected situations.

As an enthusiastic team leader you will enjoy a hands on approach in the kitchen and will be able to use your initiative to deliver an excellent service. Most of this role is customer facing so attention to detail and excellent customer service skills are a prerequisite.

As a Supervisor/Cook you will work with the Chef Manager with menu planning and development using fresh seasonal food. You will also be responsible for training, motivating and mentoring the Catering Team.

The role will be working directly for the school, not via a contract caterer.

This post is a hands-on role and benefits include:

  • a generous salary,
  • Monday to Friday sensible hours, term time plus 1 weeks contract,
  • additional paid holiday weeks,
  • generous local government pension scheme,
  • sick pay,
  • access to a private medical scheme,
  • meals on duty; and
  • the chance to be part of a new and forward-thinking Catering Team.
