Job overview

We require a part-time Counselling Service Lead to join us as soon as possible.

In this key role, you will provide a counselling and psychotherapy service within the school in line with BACP/UKCP and statutory school guidance.

Experience

  • Qualified counsellor or psychotherapist, accredited by or registered with BACP or UKCP, or other equivalent body
  • Qualified clinical supervisor with proven ability to and experience of working across modalities and with groups
  • Proven relevant experience post qualification
  • Experience of coordinating and supporting the development of trainee and newly qualified volunteer counsellors, in a way that fosters transparency, reflectivity and open discussion on areas of different thought within the supervisory team
  • Ability to take responsibility for volunteers and manage difficulties that arise within the counselling team
  • Experience of working with children and young people in a counselling and psychotherapy capacity
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the issues children and young people face within society
  • Experience of working with Neurodiverse counselling clients and counsellors in training
  • Comprehensive experience of assessment and counselling children and young people
  • Ability to recognise and respond to the diversity of the student population and to reflect on this with children and young people and with volunteer counsellors
  • Ability to work independently and within a team
  • Ability to network with external agencies and universities
  • Ability to organise competing priorities, keeping children and young people and waiting lists at the centre of managing workload
  • Excellent knowledge of statutory safeguarding and risk guidelines and procedures
  • Ability to hold safeguarding and risk issues within the counselling team, manage volunteer counsellor anxieties whilst referring to relevant safeguarding leads.

Dunraven School is a mixed, non-selective, non-denominational all-through school in the London borough of Lambeth serving students from the age of 4-18. The London based school, situated in Streatham has approximately 1,300 students on roll. It is the hub school for the South Lambeth Schools’ Partnership (SLSP), which is made up of 10 other schools in the local area.

Dunraven School converted to academy status in 2011. It’s sixth form centre is part of a collaboration of four other schools in South West London. In 2014, the school was identified by Ofsted as outstanding. It is divided into two sites, with the primary school known as North Site and the secondary school known as South Site.
