The academy has a rare and exciting opportunity for an adaptable counselling professional to provide specialist expertise in counselling, to ensure that students are able to manage their educational, vocational and personal progression.

The successful candidate will be a reflective practitioner with a commitment to continually evaluate and improve their own practice. They will be able work empathically, congruently, and non-judgementally to assist students with developing resilience and independence.


The successful candidate will:

  • Have BACP accreditation, UKCP or BPC registration
  • Have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to form effective, professional relationships with a wide range of contacts
  • Understand the developmental, emotional, social and educational issues of young people
  • Have knowledge of local mental health services and CAMHS Service
  • Have a minimum of two years’ experience working with young people


Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assessing the individual needs of students referred to the counselling service to identify appropriate support
  • Prioritising students according to their needs and concerns
  • Using a secure and confidential setting to talk to students who need the counselling services
  • Maintaining accurate records of student meetings

The Bishop of Winchester Academy, based in Bournemouth, Dorset, is a Church of England secondary school that prides itself on its curriculum, governance and outstanding student behaviour.
