South Hampstead High School is looking to appoint an experienced, well-qualified counsellor to work as part of the pastoral team.  

The roles available are either for one counsellor to provide services to both Senior School and Junior School pupils or two separate roles to provide services in either the older or younger age groups. In all cases, this will include independent and confidential counselling through individual sessions, responding to pupils’ personal, social, emotional or educational concerns, ensuring confidentiality at all times and promoting a caring and supportive environment

There may be scope for a highly experience candidate to act as the Lead Counsellor, for the group of three of four independent counsellors within the school.

The role is part-time, between 1 and 3 days per week, starting in September 2021.

The ideal candidate will possess a post-graduate Diploma or Masters level in Counselling or Psychotherapy, with a specialist qualification in child and adolescent work. BACP Accreditation, UKCP or BPC registration or registration with an equivalent recognised awarding body is essential.

Previous experience of working in a school setting is desirable but not essential.
