About the role 

We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Counsellor, who holds BACP registration, to join our Wellbeing Team.  

A summary of what’s involved:  

  • Provide short to medium term counselling to individuals to encourage healthy mental and emotional development, promoting longer term resilience.  
  • Ensure all students (aged 16+ across our Further Education course portfolio and HE), including those vulnerable students, are provided the resources to make excellent progress both academically and with their social and emotional development. 
  • Be trained as a Designated Safeguarding Lead and play an active part within the safeguarding team, including as the lead DSL on duty. 


About you 

  • You hold a Diploma / Degree in Counselling or Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (Level 6 or 7) 
  • Naturally positive individual with a focus on developing relationships, confidence in your verbal and written communication skills 
  • You will have experience of supporting young people and working with a range of stakeholders in a pastoral and student support setting. 
  • You will know the importance of student confidentiality when working with young people in crisis and of building and maintaining effective professional boundaries with staff and students. 
  • Have vision to put students’ aspirations and mental health at the heart of what you do
