Hours: 37.5 Hours per week, Term Time only inclusive of inset days 7.15am – 3.15pm Monday - Friday

Reporting to: Assistant Headteacher

Responsible for: 

The role of Cover Manager is to provide cover during teaching staff absence and is integral to the smooth operation of the school. 

Cover Manager role is to organise the deployment of the cover supervisors, collate the cover and manage the cover process in addition to supervising classes to cover during teaching staff absence. The role is primarily to manage and organise short and mid-term cover for absent teaching staff and includes liaising with supply agencies if additional cover is required.


You will need to be:


  • Reliable, committed and consistent
  • Organisationally excellent with strong IT skills
  • A strong communicator
  • Professional, preferably with some school context experience
  • Passionate about young people
  • Have good interpersonal skills
  • Calm manner

The ideal candidate will have 5 GSCEs at grades A-C, or equivalent, with sound numeracy, literacy and ICT skills and proven administrative and organisational skills.  The ability to communicate in a professional and effective manner is essential.  Experience of behaviour/classroom management and working with large groups of 11-16 year olds is preferred but not essential as training will be given to the right candidate.

Bohunt Farnborough is a mainstream, non-selective, community state secondary for girls and boys aged 11-16. The school is located in Farnborough, Hampshire and has good transport links via the M3 and A331.
