Due to continued growth and success, Didsbury High School is looking to appoint a pro-active and dedicated Cover Supervisor & PE Technician. This is a fantastic opportunity to join the Laurus Trust family, and to play a vital role in maintaining the high standards of the Trust. Support staff work tirelessly to ensure all services run smoothly and efficiently, enabling our teaching staff to focus on delivering an outstanding education for our students.

Please note: The team would welcome applications from recently qualified or experienced Teachers. 

Main Responsibilities 

  • Provide classroom and registration cover for absent teachers. 
  • Be responsible for a class of students in lesson time with due regard for their health and safety.
  • To take the class register on SIMS.
  • Supervise and support the students in their class work ensuring that the work set is undertaken within the time allocated.
  • Liaise with teaching staff regarding work set in class and write a brief report on all lessons supervised.
  • Support the PE department with the day to day running of lessons and PE activities.
  • Organise equipment and resources for PE lessons with the other PE staff.
  • Support with the running of the school’s after school extra-curricular sporting clubs.
  • Develop sports provision including research into equipment, resources, space and student interest.
  • Run and organise trials for sporting teams.
  • Organise and attend competitive sporting fixtures against other high schools.

Key Skills & Experience 

  • Experience working in a school environment would be advantageous 
  • Coaching and/or teaching experience would be beneficial 
  • Possessing any relevant Coaching Qualifications would be highly advantageous 
  • Sound educational background including GCSE’s in PE, Maths and English (A*-C) or equivalent
