Salary: £17,029 - £18,506 (FTE £23,163 - £25,172)

TBOWA Support Staff Scale: 20-23 dependent on experience

 

Due to internal promotions, departmental restructuring and continual growth of our thriving academy, The Bishop of Winchester Academy is seeking a committed and enthusiastic Cover Supervisor to ensure a consistent approach to learning for students when teachers are absent. This is an exciting opportunity to help implement our tight, robust and no-nonsense culture for learning behaviour systems.

The successful candidate will:

  • Have high expectations of themselves and students
  • Be able to maintain order and discipline in a classroom
  • Be able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Be able to use ICT effectively to support learning
  • Be calm under pressure, flexible and well-organised


Your responsibilities will include:

  • Covering lessons as required and ensuring that student discipline is strong
  • Assisting with administration, behaviour and classroom tasks when not covering lessons
  • Assisting with student supervision at break time when on rota
  • Contributing to the running of school clubs and other organised events such as Sports Day

The Bishop of Winchester Academy, based in Bournemouth, Dorset, is a Church of England secondary school that prides itself on its curriculum, governance and outstanding student behaviour. Students aged 11-18 experience teaching in new state-of-the-art buildings and have first-class resources at their fingertips. The school operates in an area where there are schools that select for entry on grounds of ability.

The mixed secondary school was opened in September 2010 as a sponsor-led academy. In September 2014, the Bishop of Winchester Academy extended its educational opportunities by opening its own sixth form.
