Why is Hazelwick School a great place to work?

Whether you are looking for your first teaching position, or seeking your next career move as an experienced teacher or associate member of staff, on these pages you will find information about our current vacancies and why Hazelwick is such a great place to work. Having been graded Outstanding by Ofsted in October 2023, our Ofsted report is on the website and gives an excellent insight into what it is like to work at Hazelwick.

Our purpose is to ensure that every student achieves their maximum potential, both as learners and as people, and our staff are essential to that success.

We are committed to developing our inclusive workplace, welcoming staff from all backgrounds and cultures, investing in training and development, and providing a work environment to promote employee wellbeing and feeling of community spirit – our low staff turnover rate pays tribute to this.

We have a strong culture of developing teachers through our highly-praised, successful and valued ECT and CPD programmes.

As an oversubscribed stand alone Academy with over 1900 students aged 11 to 18 (over 380 in our Sixth Form), we are incredibly proud of our reputation and that we are one of the highest performing schools in West Sussex, with a Progress 8 score of +0.30 (2024).  We are exceedingly proud of our students who are fantastic ambassadors for our school.

Hazelwick is in the excellent commuter location of Crawley, West Sussex, close to Gatwick Airport with great access and transport links via the M23 and Three Bridges railway station to London, East Croydon, Brighton and the South Coast.  Many of our staff travel to Crawley from Brighton – we are the first school on the train line from Brighton to attract the Fringe Area allowance.

We have a wonderfully spacious and well maintained school site with extensive playing fields covering an area of 23 acres.

We understand it can be difficult financially to make a move geographically or to a different teaching role and we have a range of recruitment incentives to help you.  Talk to us to find out how we can help you join our fabulous teaching and associate teams.
