We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to cover teacher absences working with KS3/4 students.

You will have the confidence to supervise a class, oversee the completion of pre-set work and manage the behaviour of others. Training and support will be available as required and opportunities for career progression made available. Previous experience of working with young people will be an advantage.

We are situated in the beautiful South Hams town of Totnes, with incredible countryside, towns and villages around us. We have the natural wonders of the River Dart, South Devon beaches and Dartmoor on our doorstep, alongside excellent transport to London, Exeter, and Bristol via the A38/M5 and the mainline railway which is 200m from our school. It is an amazing place to live and work.

You will be part of a forward-thinking school. We’re excited by the collaborative opportunities open to us since joining Education South West (www.educationsouthwest.org.uk) in September 2022, a trust of local primary and secondary schools that includes a nationally recognised teaching school hub at Kingsbridge.

The role requires the ability to fulfil all aspects of the role with confidence and fluency in English.

The closing date for applications is the 6th of October with interviews to take place shortly after; please email completed applications to recruitment@kingedwardvi.org.uk

About King Edward VI Community College

King Edward VI Community College is situated in the South Hams town of Totnes with a wide and varied catchment area. Our community is richly diverse, encompassing not just Totnes itself, but the wonderful countryside that surrounds it.

This is a very special place to work: we celebrate our focus on comprehensive and inclusive qualities. Our students are a fantastic mix of personalities and talents, and we value each and every one of them.

We are committed to making a real difference to their lives: supporting them to flourish, and we go that extra mile to make this happen. As Ofsted (2019) recognised staff are 'relentless in their pursuit of better outcomes for pupils'. We are rightly pleased with, but not fulfilled by, our judgment as a good school. We aspire to be consistently outstanding in all that we do, and encourage staff and students to be creative in their approaches to learning, We want to harness the potential of our community to develop a truly unique school, infused with co-operative values that prepare children to be happy and successful adults.
