Hitchin Boys’ School is a successful over-subscribed school with academy status. We are seeking to appoint a Cover Supervisor to join our well-established and friendly Cover Team to supervise classes in the absence of a teacher. 

As the lead school for School Direct Teacher Training in North Hertfordshire, Hitchin Boys’ School has a successful track record of recruiting graduates to work in the education system and then progress to become fully qualified teachers.

We are looking for a graduate who would like to spend at least a year working in a school environment before deciding whether to apply to train to be a teacher, though applications from non-graduates who do not wish to teach are also welcome. The position is offered Monday to Friday 8.30am -3.30pm term time only.

Applications are welcome from positive, motivated, energetic and enthusiastic individuals who want to work with children and young people and assist with their growth and development. We would be particularly interested in receiving applications from people with a strong interest in, and experience of, a number of sports such as rugby, tennis, cricket, athletics, hockey and badminton.

No experience is necessary as full on-the-job training will be provided.  However, the successful candidate will need excellent communication skills, organisational ability, a teamwork ethic, ability to work on their own initiative and a determination to succeed.
