Cover Supervisor – Learning Mentor

Parkfield School, Reach South Academy Trust is seeking to appoint an exceptional Cover Supervisor – Learning Mentor to join the Academy team to start as soon as possible

Hours/Contract: Part-time, Term-time, Fixed Term Contract until July 2022. 32.5 hours per week, 39 weeks per year.

The Role:  Are you interested in a career in teaching but don’t have any relevant school experience? This role is the perfect springboard to making the move into the classroom and training to teach. 

We are keen to support the right candidate through the cover supervisor role and into a training position to teach either in primary or secondary. We have a strong relationship with a local ITT provider, linked to the University of Winchester and have experience in training teachers of the future.  This role would provide anyone looking to go into teaching with relevant experience of what the job entails. 

The Person: The role requires that objective and accurate feedback is given and the behaviour policy of the school is adopted during cover sessions. Holding a HLTA qualification is advantageous, but not essential. We are looking for some of the following qualities and experience:

• Experience of working with classes or large groups of pupils

• Experience of working in a secondary and/or primary school

• Good standard of English & Mathematics at Grade C or above

• Ability to apply good behaviour management strategies in the classroom

• Patience and resilience

• Awareness of child protection and bullying issues
