Are you a proactive and engaging individual with excellent classroom management skills, ready to step in and ensure continuity of learning during teacher absences? Do you excel at motivating students and maintaining a constructive working environment across various subjects? The overall purpose of this post is to supervise whole classes during the short-term absence of teachers and implement work programmes under the guidance of teaching staff.
Responsibilities
The primary duty is supervising whole classes during short-term teacher absence, implementing pre-set work programmes. The Cover Supervisor manages student behaviour according to the Consequences Policy to maintain a constructive working environment. Responsibilities include assisting in preparing the environment and materials, responding to student questions about the set work, and collecting completed assignments. Administrative tasks involve supervising student entry/departure and accurately recording and reporting lesson attendance. The role also supports examination logistics by assisting in exam invigilation and reporting pupil behaviour or issues during referral procedures.

Qualifications
Essential skills required are the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of audiences, maintain confidentiality, and utilise standard ICT packages. The Cover Supervisor must demonstrate excellent time management and organisational skills. Critically, you must be able to relate to students in a pleasant and sympathetic manner and recognise potential child safeguarding issues. Experience of working in a school environment is desirable. The ability and willingness to obtain and/or enhance qualifications and training and development are essential.
