Can you help support our students to success?
University Technical College South Durham opened in September 2016 and is the first UTC in the North East. With a focus on advanced manufacturing and engineering it is located in the heart of Aycliffe Business Park, County Durham. We provide an excellent education for 14-19 year olds, encompassing real, relevant workplace experience in partnership with world-class companies.
Due to increased student numbers in our third year we are looking to develop our teaching and learning support further with this role. The role will be to primarily supervise the learning of classes during the short-term absence of a class teacher as they undertake the work set for them; to invigilate tests and examinations; to support in lessons and to accompany staff and students on educational visits. You will also help supervise students during breaks / lunches.
This is an ideal post for a candidate looking to develop their classroom practice from a TA / HLTA to prospective teacher or a newly qualified or student teacher wanting a general introduction into a first year of actual teaching (depending on main teaching subject we may be able to put a trainee teacher through their NQT year).
Our sponsors, Hitachi Rail Europe, Gestamp Tallent and the University of Sunderland, are committed to creating an outstanding school that will provide a talented young workforce for companies in the North of England. If you have the expertise and commitment to make a life-changing impact on our students then we’d like to hear from you.
We are an equal opportunities employer and are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and staff. Staff can enjoy free use of a well-equipped gym. We are a cohesive staff team and are led by a supportive SLT who are committed to work / life balance for all staff.
